Financial Controller

About the role

Old Mutual is hiring a Financial Controller in Nairobi, reporting to the Group CFO. The role leads the Group's financial control and reporting function, covering financial governance, statutory and regulatory compliance, internal controls, treasury oversight, budgeting and financial planning and analysis. It applies to several entities within the Group, including OMH PLC, OMEA, Old Mutual Foundation, UAP Global Services, OMAM and UAP Investments Ltd.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of accurate, timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for management, executive committees, boards and shareholders.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close, ensuring the integrity of records, reconciliations and financial statements, and ensure compliance with IFRS and Group accounting policies.
• Strengthen accounting systems, financial controls and reporting processes, and contribute to the Group's financial strategy, annual budgets and long-term plans.
• Provide financial analysis and performance monitoring against budgets and forecasts, recommending improvements and evaluating new initiatives.
• Oversee treasury, cash flow and working capital management, and manage relationships with external auditors and regulators.
• Manage fixed assets, investment income, finance costs, shared services reporting and intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Liaise with property managers to optimise property performance, including tenant management, maintenance and rental income.
• Provide leadership, coaching and performance management to the Finance team, and build partnerships with business leaders.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of relevant finance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership position.
• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Actuarial, Business or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Fully qualified CPA(K) or ACCA professional with current valid membership with ICPAK or ACCA.
