Financial Controller – Strategic Finance Leader

About the role

The Financial Controller will act as the strategic financial business leader for the Nairobi property, shaping and executing financial strategies that support Marriott’s brand objectives. This on‑site role requires strong analytical ability, leadership of the accounting team, and a deep understanding of luxury hospitality finance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement property‑wide financial strategies, budgets and forecasts aligned with brand goals.
• Analyse financial data, market trends and sales performance to drive profitability.
• Lead the accounting team, ensuring robust internal controls, accurate P&L reporting and compliance with audit standards.
• Monitor taxes, manage audit processes and safeguard assets through effective risk controls.
• Provide financial insight to the General Manager and executive committee, supporting decision‑making and stakeholder communication.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities, evaluate new business prospects and improve profit margins.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar financial controller role within luxury hospitality.
• Proven ability to lead accounting teams and influence senior management.
• Strong analytical, budgeting and forecasting skills.
