Flight Operations Internship

About the role

AMREF Flying Doctors, an aero-medical provider based at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, is recruiting two Operations Interns for its flight operations unit. The internship gives hands-on experience coordinating flights and supporting the Operations Department, with a deadline of 2 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating flights safely and in line with aviation regulations and company policy, including flight planning, communicating with aircraft commanders and monitoring operations.
• Help the flight operations team run daily flight activities in line with client expectations and aviation requirements.
• Contribute to flight planning and dispatch, following Standard Operating Procedures under supervision, and ensure flight plans for active flights are completed and submitted on time.
• Facilitate clearance by delivering manifests to immigration offices.
• Maintain records such as flight and event logs, aircrew flying records and flight operations records for inbound and outbound flights.
• Manage air-to-ground and point-to-point radio communication with aircraft commanders.
• Enter flight information into the company database and file post-flight documents.
• Provide administrative support to the Operations Department, such as organizing and replenishing stationery, and carry out other tasks assigned by the Operations Manager and duty officer.

Required profile

• Diploma in Flight Operations/Dispatch.
• Knowledge of radio communication.
• Ability to work in teams, communicate well, learn quickly, manage time and work in a fast-paced, 24-hour environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in computer applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the internet.
• Detail-oriented, dependable and self-motivated.
