Full-Time Cook – Chinese Cuisine Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our busy kitchen in Miwani, Kisumu County. The successful candidate will prepare and cook high‑quality Chinese and other dishes, ensuring meals are served safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook authentic Chinese and assigned dishes following approved recipes.
• Perform food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, slicing, chopping, marinating, seasoning, and portioning.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely, including woks, burners, ovens, steamers, and fryers.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served in the required quantities during peak periods.
• Maintain consistent taste, quality, portion size, presentation, and freshness.
• Monitor raw material freshness, storage conditions, and overall food quality.
• Follow strict food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Keep the kitchen, equipment, utensils, and storage areas clean and orderly.
• Store, label, and cover cooked food properly to prevent contamination.
• Coordinate with kitchen staff for smooth preparation and timely service.
• Set up and maintain a clean, organized dining/serving area before meals.
• Comply with all company health, safety, and operational policies.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food Production, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience as a Cook in a high‑volume hotel, restaurant, institutional kitchen, or catering facility.
• Practical experience in Chinese cuisine is an advantage.
• Ability to consistently produce a variety of dishes with high quality and taste.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, kitchen sanitation, and proper food storage.
• Physically fit, able to stand for extended periods in a demanding kitchen environment.
