FX Trader – Emerging Markets (African Currencies)

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Emerging Markets FX Trader with deep expertise in African currencies to join our global trading and liquidity team. The role combines active trading, risk management, and the development of robust FX infrastructure to support high‑volume cross‑border payment flows.

Key responsibilities

• Manage proprietary and flow‑driven FX positions across African currencies (e.g., NGN, KES, ZAR, GHS, EGP).
• Source and maintain liquidity relationships with banks, brokers, and OTC desks; execute spot, forwards, NDFs, swaps, and OTC trades.
• Design and implement hedging strategies, dynamic hedging models, and inventory risk management across multiple venues.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to build and enhance automated hedging engines, liquidity aggregation systems, smart order routing, and pricing tools.
• Integrate connectivity via FIX protocols, APIs, and improve execution latency and real‑time exposure monitoring.
• Identify and onboard new liquidity providers, build pricing frameworks for illiquid pairs, and support new corridor launches.

Required profile

• 5–10+ years of FX trading experience in Emerging Markets, with a focus on African currencies.
• Background in global banks, EM FX trading firms, payment/fintech companies, or crypto exchanges.
• Proven track record of executing institutional‑size OTC trades.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of FX market microstructure in illiquid markets.
• Experience with NDF markets and offshore hedging.
• Knowledge of capital controls and FX regulatory frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience building or optimizing FX trading systems, hedging engines, and liquidity aggregation platforms.
• Familiarity with FIX connectivity, API‑based trading systems, and algorithmic execution.
