Government Relations Coordinator – Africa

About the role

The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) is seeking a Government Relations Coordinator for Africa. Working remotely from Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa or Uganda, you will lead engagement with African member governments and regional partners to advance mining governance and sustainable development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to engage, re‑engage and expand IGF membership across Africa.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with member governments, focal points, regional organisations and development partners.
• Coordinate government requests for technical assistance and facilitate communication between governments and IGF technical teams.
• Organise African participation in the Annual General Meeting, Executive Committee activities, regional events and bilateral meetings.
• Prepare briefing notes, engagement reports, country profiles and regional analyses.
• Develop strategic partnerships and support fundraising and donor engagement.
• Represent IGF at regional and international meetings and conferences.
• Collaborate with technical, communications and project‑management teams to ensure coordinated delivery of IGF activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in government engagement, public affairs or partnership development, preferably within the African context.
• Strong coordination and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships.
• Experience preparing briefing notes, reports and country profiles.
• Ability to represent an organisation at regional and international forums.
