Green HDV Consultant

About the role

The Green HDV Consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer for Green Freight, supporting the Sustainable Mobility Unit in advancing UNEP's Green Freight Programme across African corridors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a report on at least three South‑South knowledge exchanges (online) among major trade corridors such as the Bi‑Oceanic, Northern, Central, Abidjan‑Lagos, Southern Africa, and ASEAN regions.
• Prepare a technical assistance report for the Green Freight Strategy and Action Plan for the Abidjan‑Lagos Corridor.
• Design a strategy for UNEP to support e‑BRT and e‑bus projects in African cities with replication potential across sub‑regions.
• Produce a stakeholder engagement report for an HDV electrification roadmap or strategy in the SADC region.
• Create a scale‑up concept and funding proposal to expand the UNEP Green Freight Programme.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in transport, sustainability, environmental studies, or related fields.
• Experience in developing reports, strategies, and funding proposals for transport or environmental programmes.
• Familiarity with African trade corridors and stakeholder engagement processes.
