Job description
About the role
Power Financial Wellness is looking for a Group Financial Controller to own the group's reporting engine across a multi-entity fintech: a Delaware parent (PFW Inc.) over operating entities in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and India, plus partnership and JV markets across Africa. The role covers US parent-entity accounting, monthly multi-entity consolidation and intercompany, and the accurate booking of JV and partnership revenue. It reports to the Group CFO and works in a lean finance team, with a growth path toward Head of Finance.
Key responsibilities
- Own PFW Inc. (Delaware) accounting end-to-end, including intercompany funding, holding-company costs and accruals, and keep the parent ledger audit-ready.
- Own the accurate booking of JV and partnership revenue and income, reconcile partner statements and settlement data, and act as the reporting home for markets with no local entity.
- Run the monthly group consolidation, intercompany and eliminations, foreign-currency translation and reconciling balances.
- Help prepare the monthly board and investor pack (KPIs, revenue mix, cash, burn and runway) and maintain reconciliations for group cash, the loan book and third-party debt.
- Maintain group reporting by product line (Pay, Borrow, Save, Insurance / Protect) and set up reporting for new products.
- Run the month-end close to a fixed timetable, prepare schedules for annual audits and support Series A diligence and the data room.
- Help build the group budget and rolling forecast, own the 13-week cashflow forecast, and support cash and treasury, tax and statutory filings and transfer-pricing documentation.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, plus a completed professional accounting qualification (CPA(K), ACCA, CA or equivalent); finalists near completion may be considered.
- Around 6-9 years of experience, including hands-on multi-entity consolidation and intercompany work.
- Solid IFRS knowledge including revenue recognition, and confidence with multi-currency / FX translation.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting month-end close deadlines.
Required skills
- Strong Excel and a controls / audit-trail mindset.
- Desirable: experience booking partnership / revenue-share or JV income, US entity / US GAAP exposure, Microsoft Dynamics 365, FP&A and financial modelling, and experience across African markets.
