Group Legal Officer

About the role

The Group Legal Officer will provide high‑quality legal advice, ensure compliance with Kenyan law, and act as the Company Secretary for Reeds Africa Consult. This senior position requires a hands‑on professional who can manage contracts, corporate governance, and labour‑related matters across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of contracts including service agreements, project contracts, partnership agreements, employee contracts, ICT agreements and lease agreements.
• Provide legal advice on labour law compliance, disciplinary matters, and emerging employer‑employee issues.
• Oversee Company Secretary duties: monitor statutory compliance, file annual returns, record minutes, and support director appointments.
• Coordinate corporate governance audits and ensure recommendations are presented to the Board.
• Assist in implementing the corporate strategy and advise on business ethics and good governance.

Required profile

• LL.B degree from a recognized university and a valid practising certificate as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• At least 5 years post‑admission legal experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a corporate legal environment.
• Experience acting as Company Secretary and liaising with regulators, auditors and external counsel.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour law, corporate governance standards and contract law.
