Head Chef

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the office kitchen for Plume Consultants in Nairobi’s Westlands district. The role involves preparing daily meals for a large team, catering events, and ensuring high standards of food quality and hygiene. The chef will also oversee kitchen organization and ensure efficient use of resources.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve daily meals, including Kenyan and local dishes, for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and evening meals as required.
• Cater for meetings, official engagements, visitors and special office functions, adapting menus to dietary needs.
• Develop varied weekly menus that are balanced, practical and make effective use of available ingredients.
• Supervise kitchen assistants, stewards or support staff, maintaining cleanliness and safe food handling practices.
• Manage kitchen equipment, utensils and appliances, ensuring proper use, cleaning and maintenance.
• Prepare shopping lists, monitor stock levels, receive and inspect supplies, and maintain simple records of purchases and consumption.
• Minimise food wastage and ensure responsible use of office resources.
• Remain flexible with working hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends or public holidays, to support important office activities.
• Ensure kitchen compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Ability to work flexible hours and respond quickly to short‑notice changes in guest numbers or event schedules.
• Professional demeanor with discretion when serving senior officials, guests and visitors.
