Head of Communications

About the role

The Head of Communications will lead the integrated communications function of the Science for Africa Foundation. Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, this senior strategist will shape the institution’s voice, enhance its reputation, and amplify its impact across corporate, scientific, and media channels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a cohesive communications strategy that aligns with the Foundation’s mission and objectives.
• Advise senior leadership on messaging, positioning, and media engagement.
• Oversee corporate, science, and executive communications, ensuring consistency and quality.
• Manage digital presence, including website, social media, and online campaigns.
• Lead strategic communication campaigns, partnerships, and stakeholder outreach.
• Ensure governance, compliance, and measurement of communications activities.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in communications, public relations, or related fields.
• Proven track record of strategic communication leadership in a non‑profit or research environment.
• Strong understanding of science communication and policy advocacy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
