Head of Legal – East Africa

About the role

LIONPRO is seeking a Head of Legal for East Africa to act as a senior legal partner across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. You will work closely with regional leadership, providing commercially‑minded legal advice as the business expands.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all legal matters in East Africa, including commercial contracts, regulatory licensing, governance, litigation, debt collection and employment support.
• Lead and develop the regional legal team, manage external counsel and control legal spend.
• Provide regulatory advice, engage with authorities, and ensure compliance with local laws and international standards.
• Support board governance, company secretarial duties and corporate structure management.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in contract review, negotiation and regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to manage litigation, debt collection and HR‑related legal issues.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• High ethical standards, attention to detail and proactive risk identification.
