Head of Sales and Marketing – Plastics & Packaging

About the role

The Head of Sales and Marketing will lead the commercial function for a plastics and packaging business in East Africa, shaping strategy, driving revenue growth and ensuring market leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously optimise the sales and marketing strategy in line with group direction and business goals.
• Drive monthly sales target setting, monitor performance, and ensure targets are met or exceeded across product classes and SKUs.
• Own the marketing calendar, brand positioning, digital presence and trade show representation.
• Build and manage strategic alliances, negotiate master supply agreements and oversee key account relationships.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and lead new‑product innovation with the technical team.
• Champion the commercial budgeting process, demand forecasting and collections plan to achieve financial targets.
• Develop and coach the sales & marketing team, fostering a high‑performance culture and succession pipeline.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in sales and marketing within the plastics or packaging sector.
• Strong commercial insight with ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and budgets.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, working closely with finance, operations, R&D and senior leadership.
• Track record of delivering revenue growth, market share gains and profitable customer relationships.
