Technical Sales Engineer

About the role

The Technical Sales Engineer will drive sales of water metering and ICT solutions for SHMETER AFRICA LIMITED, providing technical expertise to water utilities and other service providers across Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Identify customer needs, prepare proposals and demonstrate products on site.
• Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support, including troubleshooting and after‑sales service.
• Conduct site visits, support system design, configuration and ensure accurate implementation.
• Maintain strong customer relationships, contribute to tenders and bids, and prepare technical documentation.
• Support marketing and business development activities to expand the company’s presence.

Required profile

• Strong technical sales and sales engineering skills with a customer‑focused approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work on‑site in Nairobi and travel to client locations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of water metering technologies and smart metering (prepaid/postpaid, AMR/AMI).
• Experience with digital water management solutions.
• Technical support skills: hardware and software troubleshooting, installation support.
