Infectious Disease Surveillance Experts – Africa (Nairobi base)

About the role
RTIRTI International is building a roster of technical and management experts to support the Department of Defense‑WRAIR infectious disease surveillance and research program across the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) area of responsibility. The primary hub will be in Nairobi, Kenya, with activities extending to Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Somalia, Uganda, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and other priority countries.
Key responsibilities
- Provide scientific, technical, operational and administrative support for infectious‑disease surveillance activities.
- Coordinate surveillance and research efforts across multiple sites to ensure continuity of operations.
- Align activities with WRAIR‑Africa mission objectives and Force Health Protection priorities.
- Collaborate with country program managers and senior program leadership.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in emerging infectious‑disease surveillance or research.
- Background working in African health contexts or with multinational research programs.
- Ability to operate in multidisciplinary, donor‑funded environments.
Required skills
- Expertise in Antimicrobial Resistant Infections (AMRIs).
- Expertise in Febrile and Vector‑Borne Infections (FVBIs).
- Expertise in Respiratory Infections (RIs).
- Expertise in Wastewater‑Based Bio‑surveillance (WBB).
- Laboratory management experience.
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements for international health projects.
