Information Systems Audit Intern

About the role

The Information Systems Audit Intern will support the audit team in evaluating IT general controls, application controls and information systems security within an audit firm environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating IT general controls, application controls and information systems security.
• Participate in IT risk assessments and audit engagements.
• Test access controls, system configurations, data integrity and business process controls.
• Identify control weaknesses, system vulnerabilities and technology‑related risks.
• Prepare audit working papers, document findings and contribute to audit reports.
• Research emerging technology risks and recommend control improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Cybersecurity or related field.
• First Class Honours or Second Class Upper Division.
• Strong understanding of IT controls, cybersecurity principles and risk management.
• One to two years of relevant practical experience in IT audit, controls or cybersecurity is an advantage.
• Relevant certifications such as CISA are a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IT governance frameworks such as COBIT.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC 27001 standards.
• Understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
