About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a motivated Information Technology Intern to support the Civil Society Unit in Nairobi. The role offers hands‑on experience with website management, meeting registration, and stakeholder communications within a leading global environmental organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with website updates, including adding and editing accredited organizations, uploading documents, and editing civil society webpages.
  • Support registration processes for meetings by preparing participant lists.
  • Develop and conduct client satisfaction surveys, analyse results and provide feedback to the Committee of Permanent Representatives.
  • Draft accreditation memos for organizations requesting accreditation.
  • Facilitate effective communications with accredited UNEP Major Groups and Stakeholders in line with UN guidelines.
  • Maintain and update internal Major Groups and Stakeholders databases.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Senior Information Systems Assistant.

Required profile

  • Undergraduate studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Data Science or Cyber Security.
  • Enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s program, a graduate programme (master’s or PhD), or already graduated.
  • No prior professional experience required; a field of study closely related to the internship is mandatory.
