Inspections Officer II (IPOA)

About the role

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), which provides civilian oversight of the Police, is recruiting an Inspections Officer II (ref. IPOA/HR/19/2026) for its Inspections department. The post is based at the headquarters in Nairobi and regional offices, reporting to the Senior Assistant Director, Inspections or the Assistant Director, Regional Coordination. The salary is KES 90,000 to 130,000.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of policies, strategies, guidelines, plans, standards and procedures for Inspections, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations.
• Carry out inspections of police facilities and premises under the control of the National Police Service to professionalise the service.
• Implement inspection tools, concepts and controls suited to emerging trends in policing.
• Collect and collate data for compiling inspection reports.
• Follow up on recommendations arising from inspections of police facilities and premises.
• Carry out rapid inspection response activities within the Authority.
• Update records in the division.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Criminology & Criminal Justice, Sociology, Political Science, Social Sciences, Military, Security Studies or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
