Instructional Specialist – English Language Development (PreK‑12)

About the role

The Instructional Specialist for English Language Development (ELD) works directly in schools as part of a Cross‑Functional Team, providing on‑site coaching and instructional support to teachers and administrators across PreK‑12 grades.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑teach and model high‑quality ELD lessons in classroom settings.
• Facilitate collaborative planning sessions and lead professional learning communities focused on ELD best practices.
• Analyze student data, including Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) metrics, to inform differentiated Tier 1 instruction and targeted interventions.
• Design and implement equitable instructional strategies for English‑learning students, including those with disabilities and advanced learners.
• Spend approximately 80 % of time in the field, delivering real‑time coaching, resources, and professional development aligned with school improvement goals.

Required profile

• Experience delivering ELD instruction aligned with Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards.
• Familiarity with the WIDA English language development framework and related resources.
• Strong collaboration and coaching abilities, with a track record of supporting teachers in data‑driven instruction.
• Ability to work independently in multiple school sites and adapt to varied instructional contexts.
