Internal Audit Manager - Manufacturing/FMCG

About the role

Career Directions Limited is hiring an Internal Audit Manager for a manufacturing/FMCG client based in Nakuru. The manager leads audit engagements and ensures the organization complies with its internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, working with departments, evaluating internal controls and recommending improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and preparation: develop audit plans with scope, objectives and timelines; conduct preliminary risk assessments; coordinate schedules with management and stakeholders.
• Audit execution: lead and supervise the audit team, test internal controls, processes and transactions, and document findings including non-compliance and risks.
• Reporting and communication: prepare audit reports with findings, conclusions and recommendations, present them to senior management, and train junior auditors.
• Follow-up and monitoring: track implementation of recommendations, run follow-up audits and monitor ongoing risks and control changes.
• Continuous improvement: stay up to date with industry trends and regulations, recommend improvements to audit methods, and take part in professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounts, Finance or Economics from a recognized university.
• Professional qualification such as CPA-K, ACCA or CIA.
• Membership of the IIA or ISA is an added advantage.
• Minimum of five years of internal audit experience in the FMCG manufacturing industry.

Required skills

• Hands-on auditing experience using computerized systems and knowledge of ERP.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team.
