Internal Auditor I

About the role

Bomet University College is recruiting an Internal Auditor I (reference BU/AD/04/09/2026). The post reports to the Senior Internal Auditor and covers the full audit cycle, including risk and control management, operations effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with directives and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and control the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management.
• Obtain, analyze and evaluate accounting documentation, reports, data and flow charts.
• Prepare and present reports reflecting audit results and document processes.
• Act as an objective source of independent advice on validity, legality and goal achievement.
• Identify loopholes and recommend risk-aversion measures and cost savings.
• Maintain open communication with management and the Council, and assist in addressing their requests.
• Document processes, prepare audit findings and memoranda, and keep proper audit documentation.
• Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Management or Business Administration (or equivalent) and CPA Part (K), with six years of work experience, three of them as Internal Auditor Scale 11 in an accredited university or equivalent.
• OR Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (or equivalent) and CPA (K), with twelve years of work experience, three of them as Internal Auditor Scale 11 or equivalent.
• Membership in good standing of ICPAK or the Institute of Internal Auditors of Kenya (IIAK).

Required skills

• Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
• Integrated Data Extraction and Analysis (IDEA), TEAM MATE or TEAM MATE+.
