Inventory Accountant

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Inventory Accountant in Kamulu within the retail/supermarket industry. The role manages and reconciles shop inventory with accounting records to ensure accuracy, compliance and efficiency, combining accounting work with inventory management. It requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills and proficiency in QuickBooks.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and record daily stock movements (receipts, transfers, sales and returns)
• Carry out regular stock counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and ensure proper documentation of inventory transactions
• Record and reconcile inventory transactions in QuickBooks
• Prepare monthly inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS) reports, and support financial statements with accurate inventory data
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management related to inventory
• Implement internal controls to safeguard inventory and support audits with records
• Work with procurement and store operations, provide reports on stock levels, shrinkage and profitability, and recommend process improvements

Required profile

• CPA II or higher qualification
• Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred
• At least 3 years' experience in a retail or supermarket environment
• Hands-on experience in inventory accounting and reconciliation

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and inventory management
• QuickBooks and MS Office (Excel, Word)
• Attention to detail, accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills
