IT Intern - Research and Conservation Environment

About the role

Mpala Research Centre is recruiting an IT Intern to support its information technology operations in a research and conservation setting. The internship is full-time, entry-level and on-site in Nanyuki, Kenya, and involves working closely with staff across departments to keep technology reliable and effective.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for computers, printers, software and other IT equipment
• Help install and maintain network equipment
• Support staff with software, connectivity and technology questions
• Assist with deployment and setup of IoT hardware
• Maintain the IT assets inventory register
• Help with identity management and user access control
• Assist with data backup and recovery
• Maintain and update IT documentation and user guides
• Support operations control room activities and other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely related field
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software
• Basic knowledge of wired and wireless networks
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to learn and work in a team
