Junior Accountant (Entry Level)

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a Junior Accountant (entry level) for a full-time position based on South B Road, Mombasa. The role covers day-to-day accounting, tax and statutory compliance, month-end support and finance administration.

Key responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day accounting: posting transactions, invoicing, receipts and payments, and general ledger entries
• Assist with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and cash management
• Maintain accurate physical and digital financial records
• Assist with iTax and eTIMS transactions, tax documentation and statutory submissions, and prepare tax schedules and returns
• Support month-end and year-end closing, reconciliations, accounting schedules and financial reporting
• Help prepare for audits by providing supporting documents and schedules to senior finance staff
• Follow up on customer and supplier accounts, resolve discrepancies and ensure documents are authorised, recorded and filed correctly

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field
• 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably as an Assistant Accountant or Junior Accountant in a busy environment
• CPA qualification or ongoing CPA studies is an added advantage
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles and practices

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Basic understanding of iTax and eTIMS
• Strong attention to detail, good numerical and analytical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
