Junior Accountant – Night Shift (Australia Hours)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Accountant to support an international business operating in the construction and non‑profit sectors. The role works night‑shift hours aligned with Australian business time and is based in an office environment in South Africa or Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day accounting operations across multiple entities.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare management accounts and contribute to financial reporting.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Track project budgets, monitor costs and report on project accounting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide financial insights for decision‑making.
• Contribute to process improvements and strengthen financial controls.

Required profile

• Newly qualified or part‑qualified accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or a relevant Accounting/Finance degree.
• 0–2 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• High attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Xero accounting software (highly advantageous).
• Familiarity with construction project accounting systems such as Jobpac (beneficial).
