Junior Legal Counsel – Sustainability Focus

About the role

Systemiq is seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to join its global legal team, supporting sustainability‑focused projects across commercial, corporate and grant areas. The role offers early responsibility and exposure to senior legal stakeholders in a fast‑growing international organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support legal and operations leads across corporate, commercial, grants and HR workstreams, managing routine legal matters with senior guidance.
• Own legal operations processes such as FAQs, playbooks, checklists and training materials, and improve workflow efficiency.
• Assist the Head of Legal (Commercial) with client contracts, NDAs, procurement contracts and contractor onboarding.
• Support corporate functions including share transactions, entity set‑up, board materials and liaison with outsourced secretarial services.
• Coordinate vendor onboarding, KYC, due diligence and maintain templates for grants and philanthropic projects.

Required profile

• Law degree with qualification to practise and 1–2 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in corporate/commercial or NGO/charity sectors.
• Strong interest in sustainability, environmental or social enterprise missions.
• Excellent attention to detail, project‑management skills and ability to work independently with limited oversight.
• Outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder‑management abilities, comfortable communicating in English.

Required skills

• Legal research, drafting and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with legal databases, legal AI tools, Microsoft Office and document‑management systems.
