Kenya Conservation Media Consultant

About the role

Wild Africa is seeking a Conservation Media Consultant to act as its on‑the‑ground representative in Kenya. The consultant will build and maintain partnerships with media outlets, government bodies, NGOs and local ambassadors to support the organisation’s conservation campaigns and initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Research, connect with and maintain relationships with TV, radio, newspaper, billboard, PR and social media companies.
• Develop partnerships with local ambassadors from music, sport, film, business, religion and government.
• Engage relevant government ministries, parks, wildlife, tourism, customs, police and the President’s office.
• Track workplans, stakeholder commitments and deliverables to ensure timely follow‑through.
• Coordinate logistics for local visits, film shoots, public service announcements and mini‑documentaries.
• Represent Wild Africa in media engagements and interviews as required.
• Identify and escalate risks, delays or stakeholder challenges.
• Provide weekly progress updates to the Wild Africa team.

Required profile

• Highly organised, proactive and adaptable individual with a passion for conservation.
• Strong relationship‑building and communication abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to travel within Kenya and occasionally the wider region on short notice.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems with urgency.

Required skills

• Fluency in English; Swahili translation support where needed.
• Experience in media, communications, partnerships or conservation (beneficial but not mandatory).
