Labor & Delivery RN Internship (4 months)

About the role

Join BayCare’s Labor and Delivery Internship at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. This four‑month program provides new‑grad or experienced RNs with hands‑on experience in a high‑volume LDR unit, combining classroom learning with precepted clinical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care on the Labor, Delivery, and Recovery unit during day shifts.
• Complete approximately 30 classroom hours covering low‑risk and high‑risk pregnancies.
• Participate in fetal monitoring, lactation education, perinatal bereavement support, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) activities.
• Earn 49 continuing education credits and complete the AWHONN Perinatal Orientation and Education Program.
• Transition to night‑shift assignments after program completion and fulfill a two‑year unit commitment.

Required profile

• Associate or Diploma in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Active, unrestricted RN license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferably 1+ year of acute‑care RN experience.
• Must not be enrolled in any other academic program during the internship.

Required skills

• Lactation education competency.
