Laboratory Technologist – Mpeketoni, Lamu

About the role

Equity Afia is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to join its outpatient centre in Mpeketoni, Lamu. The role involves performing complex diagnostic tests on clinical specimens to support disease detection, diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostic tests and analyses on clinical specimens.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols and quality standards.
• Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Accurately record and report test results.
• Participate in Laboratory Quality Management System initiatives.
• Utilise Health Management Information Systems for data entry and reporting.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well‑organized laboratory environment.

Required profile

• Degree in Laboratory Sciences or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• At least one year of internship or relevant working experience.
• Registered with a valid license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
• Demonstrated understanding of Laboratory Quality Management Systems.
• Proficient computer skills, especially with Health Management Information Systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
