Lead - Climate Change and Sustainability

About the role

The Lead will spearhead the development of IPE Global’s Climate Change & Sustainability practice across Africa, turning existing institutional relationships into a revenue‑generating, technically differentiated offering. Reporting to the Global Sector Head, the role focuses on market growth rather than programme delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Own and achieve the Africa CCS revenue target of USD 5–8 million within 36 months, with full P&L accountability for Kenya, Ethiopia and the broader region.
• Build and manage a probability‑weighted bid pipeline of USD 25–50 million by month 12, tracking opportunities in real time.
• Lead end‑to‑end bid management for major donor‑funded projects, including consortium formation, technical proposal authorship, financial modelling and presentation to evaluation panels.
• Leverage existing office infrastructure and client relationships to convert general development consulting work into dedicated climate and sustainability mandates.
• Develop a portfolio of 5–7 institutional client accounts, applying a structured Client Account Management methodology.
• Establish and nurture relationships with key regional bodies such as the Africa Climate Finance Alliance, AUDA‑NEPAD, and national climate change directorates.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in climate change, sustainability or climate finance business development, preferably in Africa.
• Demonstrated ability to manage P&L, drive revenue growth and lead complex, multi‑country bids.
• Strong network with development finance institutions, bilateral donors and regional climate bodies.
• Excellent strategic thinking, commercial acumen and stakeholder‑management skills.
