About the role
The Lead, Entrepreneurship will support the implementation of entrepreneurship‑related programs in Kenya, working closely with the Head, Entrepreneurship. This senior position applies deep technical expertise to shape, manage and adapt the Foundation's programmatic work, ensuring alignment with strategy and local context.
Key responsibilities
- Support development of the country strategy with technical insights on entrepreneurship and employment systems.
- Manage programs related to entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, especially in rural and agricultural finance.
- Adapt and implement program strategies to Kenya’s local needs and opportunities.
- Collaborate with implementation partners, providing technical input and ensuring effective delivery.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders.
- Design and execute initiatives that drive innovation and scale in entrepreneurship.
- Capture lessons learned, document success stories and contribute to internal reviews.
- Share insights with internal teams and external stakeholders to inform thought leadership on youth employment in Africa.
- Participate in due‑diligence and review processes for new programs and partnerships.
- Monitor program performance and report on key metrics and outcomes.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years experience with MFIs, banks or investment companies operating in Africa to finance SMEs, with a focus on Kenya.
- At least 5 years of management experience.
- Deep understanding of the Kenyan entrepreneurship landscape, including rural, agricultural and informal sectors.
- Experience working with or managing implementation partners.
- Knowledge of systems‑change approaches and an adaptive learning mindset.
- Strong analytical ability, strategic thinking and excellent budgeting skills.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative business analytics.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
