Lecturer – Health Management, Informatics & Health Economics

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Lecturer to deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars and skills‑based sessions in Public Health, Health Management, Health Informatics and Health Economics to undergraduate and graduate students at Amref International University in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching across assigned modules and assess student performance.
• Provide technical assistance in curriculum design, development, review and implementation.
• Develop, moderate and administer examinations and academic assessments.
• Offer academic advising, mentorship and supervision to undergraduate, master’s and PhD candidates.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university committees and quality‑assurance activities.
• Support student recruitment, orientation and onboarding at the departmental level.
• Conduct independent and collaborative research, secure grants and publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Supervise postgraduate research projects, including proposal writing, thesis development and examination.

Required profile

• PhD in Public Health (Health Management/Informatics) or a related health discipline.
• Minimum three years of university teaching experience in Public Health, Health Economics, Health Management or Health Informatics.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, postgraduate supervision and research.
• Registered with the relevant professional body where applicable.
• Strong knowledge of research methodology, ethics and academic integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ICT and learning/research management platforms.
• Excellent research and grant‑writing competencies.
