Lecturer – Mining

About the role

Rongo University seeks a dedicated Lecturer in Mining to join its faculty. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise research projects, and contribute to the university’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and assess mining courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Conduct and publish research that informs policy and practice.
• Develop proposals to secure research funding and register patents.
• Supervise student projects, practicums, and field attachments.
• Provide mentorship, career counselling, and professional development for students and junior staff.
• Collaborate with industry partners for consultancy and community projects.
• Participate in curriculum development and academic service duties.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant mining discipline, or a Master’s degree with at least three years of university teaching or six years of research/industry experience.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body.
• Demonstrated teaching and research ability, with conference participation.
• Minimum publication points as specified for Masters or PhD holders.
