Legal Counsel – Corporate & Business Affairs

About the role

GiveDirectly is seeking a senior Legal Counsel to lead its Corporate & Business Affairs function. You will act as the primary legal partner for global teams, shaping complex corporate, commercial, funding and charitable relationships while building the legal framework for data partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Structure, draft and negotiate complex partnerships, funding arrangements, technology and vendor agreements.
• Advise on corporate, commercial, employment, privacy, nonprofit and operational matters across multiple functions.
• Develop templates, playbooks and repeatable processes to support scaling.
• Lead legal strategy for data‑privacy, data‑sharing agreements and regulatory engagement with MNOs and governments.
• Support fundraising, charitable giving, public‑affairs and lobbying compliance.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney in at least one jurisdiction with post‑qualification experience.
• Strong corporate, commercial and transactional background, including complex partnership structuring.
• Demonstrated expertise in data privacy and protection.
• Ability to navigate nonprofit and fundraising regulations.
• Excellent judgment, communication and negotiation skills in English.
