About the role
We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel on a fixed‑term basis to provide independent legal advice, transactional support, and dispute resolution for our banking operations. The role involves managing legal risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting business continuity across multiple functions.
Key responsibilities
- Independently manage litigation and dispute resolution matters, including arbitration support.
- Coordinate case strategy, documentation, and court processes while liaising with external counsel.
- Review, draft, and modify contracts and other legal documents; develop standard contract templates.
- Prepare compliance checklists and advise on internal policies, ensuring statutory compliance.
- Conduct legal research on emerging issues and provide opinions to business units.
- Collaborate on legal and governance audits, monitor risk mitigation actions, and deliver training on legal requirements.
- Support company secretarial duties, including board meeting preparation, minute taking, and regulatory reporting.
Required profile
- Qualified Advocate with the ability to handle complex legal matters with minimal supervision.
- Proven experience in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution.
- Strong background in contract negotiation and drafting.
- Experience in policy development, compliance, and governance.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
