Legal Operations Associate – Programs (NGO)
Corporate Staffing · Nairobi
Job description
About the role
A non-profit organization in Nairobi, represented by Corporate Staffing, is looking for a Legal Operations Associate to support its Program and Country teams. The role reports to the Acting Counsel, Africa Programs, and focuses on execution-focused legal work such as contracting, regulatory processes and compliance. It is a temporary contract position of 6 months, based in Nairobi, with a gross salary of Kshs 450,000 to 500,000.
Key responsibilities
- Support contracting and recurring legal workflows: prepare agreements from approved templates, gather inputs, coordinate internal review and move agreements through signature and filing.
- Maintain contract, legal and entity records and ensure routine matters are documented and closed out consistently.
- Coordinate with Country and Program teams to gather information and escalate questions outside established frameworks to Counsel.
- Support registrations, renewals, filings, permits and other regulatory processes, and execute routine due-diligence and compliance processes.
- Help maintain local trackers and records for recurring legal and compliance obligations.
- Support rollout of organization-wide policies, learning and guidance, and flag where they are not working effectively.
- Act as a reliable local point of coordination for recurring legal and compliance processes, without taking ownership from Counsel or central leads.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B) from a recognized university; alternatively a degree in Commerce, Business Administration or a related field with a good understanding of contracts and experience in contract management or procurement workflows.
- Experience in legal operations, contracts administration, program operations, compliance operations or a comparable execution-focused role.
- Preferred: additional training or certification in compliance, contract management, legal operations or risk management.
- Preferred: experience with high-volume contracting or procurement workflows, and with registrations, regulatory filings, due diligence or policy implementation.
- Right to work in Kenya and immediate availability are encouraged.
