Locum Registered Nurse – Maternity & Paediatric Unit

About the role

South B Hospital is seeking a compassionate Locum Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality care in its Maternity and Paediatric Unit. This temporary position offers the opportunity to work with mothers, newborns, infants, children and adolescents in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to mothers, newborns, and paediatric patients.
• Monitor patient conditions, report changes promptly, and assist in labour, delivery, post‑natal and neonatal care.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and maintain accurate nursing documentation.
• Educate patients and caregivers on newborn care, breastfeeding, and health promotion.
• Collaborate with doctors and the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
• Follow infection‑prevention, patient‑safety protocols and hospital policies.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and holding a valid practising licence.
• Valid BLS certification; ACLS or NALS certification is an advantage.
• Minimum two years of experience in a maternity and/or paediatric setting.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication and interpersonal abilities.
