Mason - Thika

About the role

Q-Sourcing, a manpower management firm operating across East Africa, is recruiting a skilled and experienced mason in Thika, Kenya, on behalf of its client. The mason crafts and constructs stone, brick or concrete structures and carries out structural repairs on client premises.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare materials such as stone, brick, concrete and mortar, cutting and sizing them to design specifications
• Construct masonry structures including walls, arches, columns and decorative features, and finish surfaces with tools such as trowels, brushes and chisels
• Inspect existing structures, repair and restore damaged work, and clean and maintain tools and equipment
• Inspect finished work against design specifications, structural requirements and industry standards
• Follow safety protocols, use PPE and report hazards, incidents or near misses
• Maintain accurate records of work done, materials used and hours worked, and communicate with supervisors and colleagues

Required profile

• Government trade test in masonry (Artisan Grade 1)
• At least 5 years of experience as a mason in construction or a workshop setting
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship

Required skills

• Proficiency in laying bricks, blocks and other masonry units
• Knowledge of masonry materials, tools and techniques
• Basic mathematical skills for measuring and calculating materials
• Effective communication and teamwork
