Maternal and Newborn Health Coordinator – Samburu

About the role

The Kenya Red Cross Society is seeking a dedicated Maternal and Newborn Health Coordinator for the Samburu region. The role focuses on strengthening maternal, newborn and child health services within county health facilities and supporting emergency and hard‑to‑reach settings.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor maternal and newborn health (MNH) programmes in line with national guidelines.
• Lead quality‑improvement initiatives, mentorship and capacity‑building for health‑facility staff.
• Coordinate facility‑based service delivery, including emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC) and referral system strengthening.
• Support data collection and analysis for maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR).
• Collaborate with county health authorities and humanitarian partners to ensure integrated service delivery.

Required profile

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing from a recognised institution.
• Registered and licensed by the relevant Kenyan professional regulatory body.
• Minimum three years of experience in maternal and newborn health, RMNCAH or hospital/health‑facility service delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in programme implementation, quality improvement, mentorship or facility coordination.
• Understanding of county health systems and experience in ASAL, humanitarian or hard‑to‑reach settings is an advantage.
