Mechatronics Field Service Engineer – Non Rotary Equipment

About the role

This position is focused on providing field service support for non‑rotary equipment used in the beverage and fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) secondary packaging sector. Based in Nairobi, the engineer will travel extensively to customer sites to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Execute mechanical, electrical and automation troubleshooting, including cable wiring, mechanical installation, adjustment and PLC logical analysis.
• Operate and maintain electro‑mechanical systems and HMI interfaces according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Test and evaluate equipment performance on‑site, ensuring compliance with technical, contractual and safety specifications.
• Document working time, technical reports and equipment non‑conformities, and submit them regularly.
• Identify after‑sales opportunities during customer visits and report them.

Required profile

• Graduate in Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in field service or related activities, preferably in the beverage industry.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 90% of the time, including international assignments.

Required skills

• Basic PLC management (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, B&R, Schneider).
• Experience with Fanuc robots.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and ability to read electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings and line layouts.
• Proficiency in HMI operation, cable wiring, mechanical installation and PLC programming.
