Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)

About the role

Finlazo, a fintech building digital asset and cross‑border payment infrastructure in Kenya, is looking for an experienced Money Laundering Reporting Officer to lead its AML/CFT and financial crime compliance function.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain AML/CFT policies, procedures and risk assessments.
• Oversee customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), KYC and KYB processes.
• Establish transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, PEP screening and suspicious activity escalation procedures.
• Manage regulatory reporting and maintain compliance records.
• Support onboarding and due diligence with banking, payment and digital‑asset partners.
• Advise management on Kenyan AML/CFT requirements and evolving virtual‑asset regulations.
• Conduct compliance reviews, staff training and periodic risk assessments.
• Maintain independent oversight of financial‑crime risks across Finlazo’s operations.

Required profile

• Internationally recognised AML or financial‑crime certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA Advanced Certificate, CFCS).
• Practical experience in AML/CFT, financial‑crime compliance or an MLRO/compliance leadership role.
• Strong understanding of Kenya’s AML/CFT regulatory framework and Financial Reporting Centre requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with KYC, KYB, sanctions screening, enhanced due diligence and transaction monitoring.
• Strong written communication, professional judgment and ability to work independently.
• Must be based in Kenya.
