Outreach, Advocacy & Communications Officer (Consultancy)

About the role

The Outreach, Advocacy, Liaison and Communications Officer will support the ALIGN project, a Global Financing Facility‑funded initiative to improve adolescent health and nutrition across up to 12 African countries. Reporting to the ALIGN Project Manager at The Youth Café, the officer will work in a hybrid/online mode with occasional travel to target countries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement outreach, advocacy and communication strategies to promote adolescent health and nutrition innovations.
• Engage and liaise with civil society organisations (CSOs), youth‑led organisations (YLOs), government entities, media partners and consortium members.
• Coordinate sub‑grant activities, including grant management support and monitoring of funded CSOs/YLOs.
• Facilitate the Cross‑Country Community of Practice, organising peer‑learning events and knowledge‑exchange platforms.
• Support policy dialogue and youth engagement mechanisms such as youth councils and social‑listening channels.
• Produce communication materials, briefs and reports for internal and external audiences.
• Travel to project countries as needed to support field activities and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in outreach, advocacy, liaison or communications within the health, nutrition or international development sector.
• Demonstrated ability to work with CSOs, youth organisations and government stakeholders across multiple countries.
• Strong understanding of adolescent health and nutrition challenges in low‑resource settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid/online environment and manage multiple tasks.
