Pastry Chef – Full-time in Nairobi

About the role

Divine Cravings Bakery is seeking a motivated Pastry Chef to join its dynamic kitchen team in Nairobi. This full‑time position offers the chance to work alongside senior chefs, develop high‑end pastries, and contribute to seasonal menu creation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, bake, and decorate pies, viennoiserie, entremets, cakes, tarts and desserts on a daily basis.
• Assist with lamination processes for croissants, danishes and puff pastries.
• Absorb feedback, master new techniques, and apply them to daily tasks.
• Collaborate with chefs and kitchen assistants to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor ingredient stock, place orders, and manage kitchen budget to meet food‑cost targets.
• Implement production planning to minimise waste while maintaining product availability.
• Enforce strict quality standards for taste, texture and visual presentation.
• Participate in seasonal menu development and creation of signature items.
• Design and execute custom orders, including celebration cakes and catering requests.
• Maintain sanitation standards and ensure compliance with local health codes.
• Oversee proper use, cleaning and routine maintenance of commercial baking equipment.

Required profile

• 2 to 5 years of professional pastry experience; supervisory or shift‑lead experience is an advantage.
• Degree or diploma in Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong foundation in pastry production and a passion for continuous learning.
