People and Culture Intern

About the role
Movement in Refuge (MiR) is seeking a People and Culture Intern to help build the people‑operations backbone of a fast‑growing international NGO working with conflict‑affected communities. You will support recruitment, onboarding, and HR systems for interns, community‑based coaches, and staff while ensuring safeguarding standards are upheld.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and post position descriptions on platforms such as ReliefWeb.
- Screen applications and coordinate interview schedules for internship and staff roles.
- Organise onboarding activities, including induction sessions and documentation for new team members.
- Maintain personnel records, HR trackers, contact details, start/end dates, and reference letters.
- Assist in developing and updating HR policies, volunteer/intern agreements, and codes of conduct.
- Support safe recruitment practices, including reference checks for roles involving vulnerable communities.
- Facilitate regular check‑ins and feedback processes between interns/staff and their supervisors.
Required profile
- Strong interest in human resources and people operations within a humanitarian context.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple administrative tasks.
- Willingness to work closely with leadership and adhere to safeguarding frameworks.
