Plant Accountant (Manufacturing)

About the role

A leading manufacturing organisation is looking for a detail-oriented, results-driven Plant Accountant to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Plant Controller, the role supports plant productivity through cost management, inventory management, petty cash administration, creditor management, financial reporting and internal controls. Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly plant financial performance reports and explain budget variances; allocate departmental P&L reports and prepare plant cost performance reports.
• Analyse budgeted versus actual plant expenditure, initiate reclassification journals for wrongly captured costs, and prepare weekly product margin and sales/margin reports.
• Manage suppliers' deliveries and invoices, follow up payment requests, resolve payment queries and escalate urgent ones.
• Review general ledger postings, identify unrecorded expenses, and prepare accrual journals for approval.
• Maintain fixed asset records, tags and the register, review capital expenditure requisitions and coordinate disposal of obsolete or damaged assets.
• Process petty cash requests, reconcile petty cash weekly and monthly, and request site expenditure reimbursements.
• Review daily stock movements, take part in monthly stock counts, prepare monthly stock valuation reports and initiate stock adjustments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Part-qualified professional accountant, such as CPA II, ACCA Level II or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, cost control and compliance.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SAP.
• Spreadsheets and Microsoft Office applications.
