Procurement Officer

About the role

Nairobi Central Hardware is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to lead and optimise all purchasing activities. The role covers sourcing quality materials at competitive prices, managing supplier relationships, monitoring stock levels and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. It is a full-time position in Nairobi, reporting to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies, and manage the process from requisition to delivery
• Evaluate and select suppliers on price, quality and reliability, and negotiate contracts and terms
• Maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance and resolve disputes
• Monitor inventory levels, manage stock replenishment and coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams
• Analyse market trends, implement cost controls and prepare reports on procurement performance
• Maintain accurate procurement records, tabulate price changes and follow suppliers for shortages
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans
• Work with internal departments to understand their needs and share procurement best practices

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field
• Professional certification such as CIPS is an added advantage
• At least 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in the hardware industry
• Knowledge of local procurement regulations and excellent attention to detail
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, leadership skills and good work ethics
• Fluent English; Kiswahili, Gujarati and Hindi are listed as language requirements

Required skills

• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Tally ERP is an added advantage
