Product Applications Engineer

About the role

The Product Applications Engineer will work at Veeco’s Boise location to develop new applications and support customers using ion‑beam systems. This role bridges technology and market needs, driving product enhancements and new product development.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with customers to develop applications and improve process performance on ion‑beam equipment.
• Create, maintain, and promote Best Known Methods (BKMs) for process control, development, and continuous improvement.
• Plan, implement, and monitor measures that enhance system performance and diagnostics.
• Troubleshoot process issues, escalating to service or engineering teams when necessary.
• Present technical product information to customers, sales teams, and partners.
• Provide training and technical assistance to internal teams and external customers.
• Participate in cross‑functional teams with service, sales, marketing, product, and engineering groups to meet revenue goals.

Required profile

• Technically sound with a strong background in ion‑beam technology or related material‑science processes.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team.
• Strong communication skills for interfacing with customers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites for demos, training, and support.
