Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations is recruiting a Programme Management Officer based in Nairobi, Westlands. The position requires extensive experience in development work, pooled fund management, donor engagement and coordination with UN agencies.

Required profile

• An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in development studies, international development, economics, international relations, political science, governance and public policy, social sciences or a related field; a first-level degree plus two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in its place.
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in development in developing countries and inter-agency or multi-stakeholder coordination.
• At least four years of managerial support of a pooled fund, including joint programme design, allocation processes, fiduciary oversight and results-based reporting.
• At least four years of donor engagement, resource mobilization and coordination with UN agencies, including convening and coordinating senior counterparts across multiple organizations.
• At least three years supporting diverse teams, designing work plans and supporting budgets.
• Excellent analytical writing skills and experience producing strategic reports for senior decision-makers.

Desirable experience

• Facilitating and leading high-level multi-stakeholder consultations with governments, UN entities and development partners.
• Experience working in the UN and Delivering as One.
• One year or more in data analytics or a related area.
• Completion of data analytics, business analytics or data science programmes (degree and/or non-degree).
