Programme Officer – Health & Nutrition

About the role

The Programme Officer – Health & Nutrition will provide technical guidance and hands‑on support to strengthen the Sub‑County Health Management Team’s capacity in delivering high‑impact nutrition interventions across Marsabit County.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of High Impact Nutrition Interventions (HINI), IMAM services, MIYCN, BFCI, Family MUAC and related programmes at facility and community levels.
• Develop and execute monthly work plans in partnership with the Sub‑County Health Management Team and monitor progress through regular meetings and action plans.
• Support rural health facilities to establish referral systems and operationalise community units, including training and mobilisation activities.
• Ensure adequate supply of therapeutic commodities to health facilities and lead the sub‑county health and nutrition costed work plan.
• Participate in data collection, surveys and joint supervision visits to monitor nutrition outcomes and quality.
• Prepare weekly briefs, monthly and quarterly reports, and contribute to donor reporting.
• Represent Concern Worldwide in sub‑county steering groups, technical forums and other coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing or related field with at least three years’ experience in maternal and child health and nutrition programming.
• Valid KNDI licence or Nursing Council practising licence.
• Experience working in both development and emergency contexts, preferably in ASAL or similar settings.
• Strong knowledge of MOH systems at sub‑county level and ability to integrate cross‑cutting issues such as gender, HIV/AIDS and DRR.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and report‑writing skills, with a commitment to humanitarian principles and the Concern Code of Conduct.
