Project Director for AFGHS-FHI 360 Uganda

About the role

The Project Director leads the AFGHS-FHI 360 Uganda project, providing overall strategic direction, management and technical oversight to ensure successful implementation of HIV and Global Health Security initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Direct overall project vision, design, planning and implementation, ensuring goals are met within time and budget constraints.
• Develop and manage strategic relationships with government entities, implementing partners, donors and other stakeholders.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and risk management processes, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Lead and mentor the project team within a matrixed structure, fostering performance and professional development.

Required profile

• 10+ years of relevant experience in international health project management, including 5+ years of line‑management experience.
• Proven experience managing large, complex health projects in areas such as HIV, GHS, malaria, nutrition or health systems strengthening.
• Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, donors and partner organizations.
